Did you know that the razor clam is known to be the Ferrari of underwater diggers? These animals have been observed digging up to 9 inches per minute (about an inch every 6 seconds). So, you have to dig fast to catch them. Come explore the world renown Clatsop County beaches; home of the impressive razor clam.

This workshop will be held at historic Fort Stevens State Park near Astoria in conjunction with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. Your registration fee includes the use of all necessary equipment, instruction/materials and lunch as well as your day passes for access to the picnic shelter at Coffenbury Lake. Don’t miss out on playing in nature’s largest sandbox and coming home with freshly cleaned razor clams and some tantalizing recipe’s to cook them.

All participants 14 years of age and older are required to have a current Oregon Shellfish License in order to participate in the clamming portion of this workshop. Resident shellfish licenses will be for sale at the workshop for your convenience, they cost $7.00, but if you can purchase one ahead of time it would be appreciated. If you are a non-resident, a non-resident 3-day shellfish license will need to be purchased prior to the workshop, we do not sell non-resident licenses on site. They can be purchased from Fred Meyers for $11.50 in Warrenton. Shellfish regulations require that you keep the first 15 clams that you dig.
