Walter Wirth Lake

Getting There:  Walter Worth Lake is located in Cascade Gateway Park in the City of Salem.  Go south on  Turner Road SE off Hwy 22 just west of I-5.

 Fisheries:  Walter Worth Lake is stocked from April through June with legal- and trophy-sized rainbow trout.  There are also warmwater gamefish in the lake.

Useful Information:  Only non motorized boats are allowed; there is a boat slide at the lake.  There are excellent bank fishing opportunities including a fishing dock and some access for disabled anglers.  Cascade Gateway Park and Walter Wirth Lake are open year-round for fishing.  

Tackle & Techniques:  Standard trout fishing methods such as worms, PowerBait, spinners and fly casting work well at Walter Wirth Lake.  For warmwater fish use worms on a bobber or a grub/jig set up.     

Facilities: There are restrooms at several locations in the park.  The park is a day use area with picnic facilities, playgrounds, horseshoe courts, and an 18-hole disc golf course.

Additional Activities:  Cascade Gateway Park is located on the south side of Salem.  There are numerous restaurants, movie theaters and shopping opportunities in the general area. Nearby state parks: Willamette Mission State Park.
