“This is a huge all day event with many activities, one of which is fishing,” says Karen Hans, ODFW STEP Biologist. “It’s a great opportunity for kids to have fun while learning about conservation, hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation.” The Northwest Steelheaders and Senior Fishing Buddies come provide poles and gear for youth to use that day. Volunteers also assist young anglers in addition to cleaning their catch and placing it on ice.
Approximately 800 youth plus their parents were in attendance in 2006.
