CENTRAL
POINT, Ore —On
Jan. 10, Oregon
Department of
Fish and Wildlife
will stock two
southwest Oregon
ponds with excess
hatchery summer
steelhead adults
to provide additional
fishing opportunities.
ODFW
will add 175
steelhead to
Expo Pond near
the Jackson County
Fairgrounds in
Central Point
and Reinhart
Park Pond in
Grants Pass,
formerly called
All Sports Pond,
will be stocked
with 50 steelhead.
These
excess fish are
recycled back
into the Rogue
River up until
Jan 1st of every
year for anglers
to enjoy. Trout
bag limits for
lakes are five
per day, 8 inch
minimum size
and one fish
over 20 inches.
“The
fish are in good
condition and
average 4 to
5 pounds,” said
Cole M. Rivers
Hatchery Manager
Randall Robart. “Recent
rains and higher
than normal river
flows have brought
abundant numbers
of these fish
into the hatchery
in recent weeks
providing this
opportunity.”
