Junction City, Ore. – Young people interested in learning how to fish will have great opportunity at a free youth fishing event on Saturday, April 18 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Junction City Pond.
The event is part of the Youth Angling Enhancement Program sponsored by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, which will stock more than 1,000 rainbow trout for the Junction City Moose Lodge’s annual youth fishing derby. The trout come from Willamette Hatchery in Oakridge.
Rods, reels and bait will be available to those young anglers who do not have their own fishing equipment. And there will be plenty of volunteers on hand to help them learn how to bait a hook, cast a rod and land a fish.
Anglers under the age of 14 can fish for free. A juvenile license is required for anglers 14-17 years of age. All Oregon fishing regulations continue to apply.
The Junction City Pond is about three miles south of Junction City, just west of Highway 99.
