CLACKAMAS, Ore. – Fishery managers from Oregon and Washington will meet Wednesday to set spring chinook salmon seasons for the Columbia and Willamette rivers.
A joint state hearing of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Longview City Hall, located at 1525 Broadway, in Longview, Wash.
Action items include the spring recreational chinook salmon seasons for the Columbia and Willamette rivers, as well as select area commercial salmon seasons.
The Columbia (downstream of I-5 Bridge) and Willamette rivers are currently open to chinook salmon retention under permanent regulations. Each year Oregon and Washington amend those seasons to provide additional angling opportunities, if possible, depending on run forecasts.
The hearing is open to the public, and testimony will be accepted.
