Baker City resident appointed to ODFW Fish Restoration and Enhancement Program board

January 19, 2010

SALEM, Ore. — Baker City resident William Lovelace has been appointed to a four-year term on ODFW’s Fish Restoration and Enhancement Board by the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission on Jan. 8 in Salem. He will represent the public at-large.

A retired real estate broker, Lovelace is a long-time dedicated angler who has been involved in a variety of fish-related educational and restoration activities including as a member of the Powder Basin Reservation of Water Rules Advisory Committee, Powder Basin Watershed Council and Hells Canyon Complex and Bull Trout Recovery Unit Teams.

He replaces Bob Mulong, of Bend, whose term expired at the end of 2009.

Created by the Oregon Legislature in 1989, the Fish Restoration and Enhancement Program is funded by a surcharge on sport and commercial fishing licenses and commercial poundage fees. The program’s seven-member citizen board reviews fish restoration and enhancement project proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission.

Other members of the R&E Board include sport fishing representatives Lonnie Johnson of Grants Pass and Jack Glass of Troutdale, seafood processing representative Dixie Boley of Gold Beach, gillnet fishing representative Gary Soderstrom of Clatskanie, troll fishing representative Terry Learned of Cloverdale, and Robert Bumstead of Eugene, who was appointed as a sport fishing representative on Jan. 8.
