Hatchery research center to host Fall Creek Festival Nov. 6

October 19, 2010

ALSEA, Ore. -- Local artists, whose work has been inspired by the Oregon coastal region, will share their techniques and their visions during the fourth annual Fall Creek Festival Nov. 6, 2010 at the Oregon Hatchery Research Center near Alsea.

The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the OHRC, 2418 E. Fall Creek Rd., 13 miles west of Alsea on state Route 34.

“This is a unique opportunity for people to see nature and the natural world through the eyes of an artist, and to then create a piece of art that reflects their own perspective,” said Joseph O’Neil, OHRC senior technician.

Participants can register for artist-led workshops in watercolor painting, fish printing, photography, leather working and stenciling. Workshops will last about an hour and each will be repeated a second time during the one-day event. Tours of the Research Center also will be available.

Workshops will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and are aimed at both children and adults. Registration is required and participants are encouraged to take part in both morning and afternoon sessions. All workshops are free, and lunch will be provided to registered participants.
