Commercial nearshore fishery topic of meetings

NEWPORT – Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will hold three public meetings on the coast to discuss the 2011-2012 seasons for the commercial black rockfish, blue rockfish and nearshore fishery.

A representative from the federal fisheries observer program will give an overview of that program and answer questions.

ODFW staff will discuss the current season and the regulation options for the 2012 season. They will also provide updates from the Pacific Fisheries Management Council and will also answer any questions from commercial fishers or the public.

The meetings will be in:

  • Pacific City, 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the Kiawanda Community Center, 34600 Cape Kiawanda Drive.
  • Gold Beach, 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Gold Beach Resort, 29232 Ellensburg Ave.
  • Port Orford, 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Port Orford Library, 1421 Oregon Street (Hwy 101).
