SALEM, Ore. – The Columbia River Fiscal Impact Advisory Committee will meet 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. The meeting will be in the main conference room at the Department of Human Services building (3420 Cherry Lane, Salem) on the same campus as the ODFW Headquarters.
This is the second meeting of the Fiscal Impact Advisory Committee. On April 3, the committee took public comment related to the previous economic analysis, and learned how the current Fiscal Impact Statement was developed. At this meeting, the committee will review any additional comments to the current Fiscal Impact Statement, and consider its report and recommendations to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission. The Commission will consider the rules establishing the new framework June 6 in Tigard. The Fiscal Impact Statement is found at ODFW’s website.
The new framework includes a higher priority for the sport fishery in the Columbia River mainstem, a gradual shift of non-tribal commercial gillnets to enhanced off-channel areas and development of new commercial selective gears for the mainstem. Implementation of these new rules is currently stayed by the Oregon Court of Appeals. |
