Grants Pass hosts Family Fishing Event

April 26, 2016

ROSEBURG, Ore - Enjoy fishing with the family at an event this Saturday, April 30 at Reinhart Park Pond in Grants Pass from 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The pond is stocked with rainbow trout, including 100 in the 12 to 14-inch range.

Rods, reels, tackle and bait are provide by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to make learning how to catch fish as fun and easy as possible. Crater Bass Club volunteers and ODFW staff can help with everything from baiting and casting a rod to catching and cleaning fish.

Kids 11 and younger can fish for free while those 12 to 17 and adults need an Oregon angling license to fish. A new Youth License for 12 to 17-year-olds costs just $10 and is good for hunting, fishing, and shellfishing. Licenses are not for sale at this event. All State fishing regulations continue to apply.

A feature of the ODFW Outdoors Program, this free fishing event is designed to introduce kids and their families to fishing. ODFW partners with the Crater Bass Club to host the event.

Directions to Reinhart Volunteer Park Pond: From I-5, take Exit 55 and go two miles on Grants Pass Parkway. Turn right onto SE M Street which becomes SW Bridge Street. Go one mile and turn left onto Lincoln Road/OR-260 for almost a half-mile. Turn left onto Webster Road to the park. Look for a banner and racks of fishing rods by the pond.

Check ODFW’s website for a list of Family Fishing Events throughout the state.
