Returns of fall chinook to coastal rivers and streams range from near normal in the Southwest Zone to quite low on several rivers in the Northwest Zones. Returns of coho salmon will be lower than last year but good enough for wild coho fisheries to open on the Siletz and Coquille rivers and Tenmile Lake. Be sure to check the 2010 Coastal Fall Chinook and Coho Salmon Sport Regulations for bag limits and area closures.
The Columbia River offers premiere opportunities to fish for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, shad and a variety of warmwater species. Management of the river and its fisheries is a responsibility shared by state, federal and tribal agencies. The overarching management objective is to meet conservation requirements while providing optimum sport and commercial fishing opportunities.
