- In early spring, snow-fed rivers can run high and cold -- look for trout in slow waters near the bank and other quiet areas.
- The shallower waters in lakes and ponds will be the first to warm up -- concentrate your efforts there early in the season and early in the day.
Trout stocking gets underway as early as March in lakes and reservoirs that are open year-round. Fishing also can be excellent for holdover of fish – trout that were stocked the season before and overwintered. After west side rivers and streams open to trout in late May, even more water is open to early season fishing.
As water temperatures warm, insect hatchers become more prolific inspiring trout to become more active and likely to bite.
Our Family Fishing events are also well-underway from March to June.
