Rock Creek Hatchery

Elk River Hatchery

Best time to visit: All year.

Fish raised: Spring chinook salmon, steelhead and rainbow trout.

What to see and do

At the hatchery: Adult fish may be observed in natural holding pools. Visitors may feed large rainbow trout. There is a disabled-accessible trail to a viewing deck and interpretive signing.

Nearby: Umpqua National Forest, Crater Lake National Park, Diamond Lake, and the Wild and Scenic North Umpqua River offer a variety of recreational opportunities.

Rock Creek Hatchery

From I-5: Take Hwy. 138 to Idleyld Park. Turn left on Rock Creek Road and travel 1/2 mile to McCarn Land. The hatchery is on the left.

From Hwy. 97: Take Hwy. 138 for 83 miles to Idleyld Park. Turn right on Rock Creek Road and travel 1/2 mile to McCarn Lane. The hatchery is on the right.
