2015 Photo Contest Winners

Here are the winners in the fishing, hunting, crabbing, clamming and wildlife viewing categories. Two hundred forty photos met eligibility requirements for the contest and many of them will be showcased in the future on ODFW’s website, in promotional materials and on social media channels, so look for yours. Several runner-ups were recognized. The contest ran from June 3, 2015 through June 24, 2015.

The Fishing Winner!
Trask River

Tom Armour of Tigard won the fishing category with this image of salmon anglers in the early morning fog on the Trask River.

Fishing Runners Up


First runner up: Rick Finnell’s photo shows angler Blane Powers with a Cape Kiwanda coho salmon. Rick is from Beaver.

Fish Lake

Second runner up: Helen Hall of Baker City captured this image of the sun setting on a hopeful angler at Fish Lake near Halfway.

Three on point

Lyndon Graham, Hillsboro, snapped this shot of Cooter Brown, Hank and Bodacious on point while chukar hunting on the John Day River near Condon.

Duck Hunting

First runner up: Helen Hall, Baker City, photographed Michael Hall and his favorite hunting partner duck hunting on private land near Baker City.


The Crabbing Winner!


Ken Gagne, Yachats, took this photo of Greg Anderson celebrating his crabbing success in the ocean off Newport.


The Clamming Winner! The Clamming Runner Up


Julie Woodman of North Bend caught Kylee Woodman digging in the mud after bay clams near the North Bend Bridge.


Marty Liesegang, Scappoose, took this photo of first-time clammers Mason and Griffin Mortenson at Sunset Beach.

Sandhill Crane

Jane Pittenger, Florence, captured this sandhill crane flyover at the Summer Lake Wildlife Area.

Great Blue Heron

First runner up: Adrienne Cleveland of Seaside submitted a beautifully timed shot of a great blue heron coming in for a landing on the Necanicum River near Seaside.

Bighorn Ram
Second runner up: Ronald French, Sandy, photographed this stately bighorn ram in Wallowa County.
