Ahsney Conservation Area

About Ahsney Conservation Area:

Project Proponent: Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde

Year Acquired: 2019

Conservation Values Protected: This property protects the following Oregon conservation strategy species: chipping sparrow, western meadowlark, white-breasted nuthatch, and western gray squirrel. The site also supports several patches of Kincaid's lupine which is listed as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act, and is also a priority species for the Oregon conservation strategy. This plant is an important host plant for Fender's blue butterfly, which is found nearby. As the property is adjacent to Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge, it can function as a wildlife corridor, creating a critical biological link of habitat and wildlife populations over time.
