The purpose of this project is to Improve habitat and forest stand conditions in ponderosa pine woodlands, to protect and enhance aspen woodlands and native grasslands, to increase cold water inputs and improve water quality for chinook salmon and ESA listed Mid-Columbia steelhead, and to foster goodwill among private landowners in our operating area to build trust and encourage future restoration and habitat protection. Overall project objectives include: Removal of over 150 acres of juniper, protection of multiple aspen stands from domestic and wild ungulate browse, development of 3 springs, establishment and protection of forage for elk and mule deer in core winter habitat, forest health treatments across approximately 1500 acres of ponderosa pine woodlands on two properties.
