Special Sept. 22 A&H meeting on emergency fire seeding

September 21, 2009

SALEM, Ore. – The Access and Habitat Board will meet in a telephone conference call on Sept. 22, 10:30 am PT to consider several emergency fire seeding project applications.

While some wildfires can be beneficial to wildlife habitat, reseeding can help establish desirable wildlife forage, control erosion, and prevent the establishment of invasive weeds in burned areas.

Public wishing to listen to the meeting may do so by calling 1-888-476-6131 and entering the access code 804246.

The A&H Program funds projects that provide hunter access and/or improve wildlife habitat on private land in Oregon. The program is funded by a $2 surcharge on hunting licenses.
