STAYTON, Ore. — A Wilsonville hunter submitted the winning bid of $26,000 for a statewide elk tag at the Cascade Chapter Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation annual fundraising banquet held in Stayton on April 5.
The tag permits him to hunt an extended season from Sept. 1 – Nov. 30, 2008 anywhere in Oregon where there is an authorized season.
The ODFW Access and Habitat Program provided the special tag. Ten percent of the auction proceeds will go to the Cascade Chapter RMEF while the Access and Habitat Program will use the remainder of the funds for wildlife habitat and hunter access projects throughout the state.
