SALEM, Ore. –Hunting and fishing licenses for 2009 went on sale Dec. 1 at more than 500 ODFW license agents around the state—just in time for holiday gift giving.

To purchase a license as a gift, tell the sales clerk you'd like to make a gift purchase and be prepared to give the hunter’s or angler’s full name and date of birth (month, day, year). If you are purchasing a license for someone who has never had a license, you will have to provide their social security number per Federal and State law.

You can also buy your 2009 license online, but if you want to buy one as a gift you have to have additional information. Importantly, you need to know the person’s ODFW hunter/angler ID number, which is found at the top of a current or previous license. If you don’t have this number, you can purchase the license at an ODFW license agent who can look up the customer by name and date of birth.

Whether you are buying your own license or buying one as a gift, an Oregon hunting or fishing license is a great purchase at any time. Not only does it give you and your loved ones the opportunity to recreate outdoors all year, ODFW staff work hard to provide you with the information you need to make the most of your experience. Current information on where to hunt and fish is available in ODFW’s Recreation Report which is published on the website every Wednesday. Outdoor, angler and hunter education classes help newcomers get started enjoying Oregon’s hunting and angling heritage.
