SALEM, Ore. — Big game hunt raffle tickets are now on sale. These tickets make great gifts and offer winners the opportunity to hunt an extended 2009 season for deer, elk, bighorn sheep, pronghorn antelope or Rocky Mountain goat.
The winning tickets will be drawn at the Oregon Hunters Association State Convention to be held in Grand Ronde on May 16, 2009. Winners may still purchase tags and hunt in general or controlled seasons, in addition to hunting with their raffle tag.
Several of the raffle hunts are offered through the Access and Habitat program, including the Governor’s statewide combination deer and elk hunt, statewide deer, southeast Oregon deer, central Oregon deer, northeast Oregon deer, statewide elk, northeast Oregon elk, central/southeast Oregon elk, and western Oregon elk.
Deer and elk raffle hunt winners will be able to hunt an extended season from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, 2009 across multiple wildlife management units. Money raised from the deer and elk hunt raffles goes to the Access and Habitat program, which provides grants to fund wildlife habitat improvement and hunter access projects on private land throughout Oregon. Ticket prices for deer hunts are $4 for one ticket, $11 for six, $21 for 15, $51 for 40 and $101 for 100. Elk raffle tickets are $6 for one, $21 for six, $41 for 15 and $101 for 40. Combination deer and elk hunt tickets are $11 for one, $31 for six, $61 for 15 and $151 for 40.
The bighorn sheep, pronghorn antelope and Rocky Mountain goat raffles also offer extended hunting seasons to the winner. Proceeds go to research and projects that benefit these species in Oregon. These raffle tickets cost $11 for one, $51 for six, and $101 for 13.
Raffle tickets can be purchased online, at point-of sale-license agents including ODFW headquarters (3406 Cherry Ave. NE, Salem), or by mail/fax order. Mail/fax order forms are available online, from point-of-sale agents, on page 23 of the 2009 Oregon Big Game Regulations, or by calling (503) 947-6314. Purchasing details will be found with raffle ticket order forms.
Tickets will be pre-printed with the purchaser’s name, address, and phone number. Additional space is provided to designate the ticket to another person if desired. Completed tickets must be received via mail or hand-delivered to ODFW’s Salem headquarters by 5 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009. Raffle tickets will also be on sale at the Oregon Hunters Association convention from 5-6:30 p.m. but because of the time involved in printing purchasers’ information on the tickets, hunters are strongly encouraged to buy their tickets in advance of the event.
