The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking individuals interested in representing public and commercial fishing interests on the Commercial Fishery Permit Board. Interested individuals should contact ODFW by Feb. 15, 2008.

The Commercial Fishery Permit Board is composed of three individuals representing commercial fishers from each fishery plus two at-large public members. Currently, there are 33 vacant positions to represent the following fisheries: sea urchin, roe herring, Columbia River gillnet salmon, ocean troll salmon, ocean shrimp/scallop, ocean crab, sardine, bay clam dive, developmental fisheries, brine shrimp, blue and black rockfish and nearshore fisheries.

Terms for the two public representatives have expired, leaving those positions open for new appointments by the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission.

To be considered as a board member, individuals must submit a resume that describes their career and/or public service history to DeAnna Erickson, ODFW Licensing Services manager, at ODFW, 3406 Cherry Ave. NE, Salem, OR 97303, or e-mail it to deanna.m.erickson@state.or.us.

The Commercial Fishery Permit Board reviews limited entry permit denials made by ODFW and requests for transfers for the following commercial fisheries: sea urchin, roe herring, Columbia River gillnet salmon, ocean troll salmon, ocean shrimp/scallop, ocean crab, sardine, bay clam dive, developmental fisheries, brine shrimp, blue and black rockfish and nearshore fisheries.

Members of the board receive no compensation for services. They are reimbursed for travel and other expenses incurred in the performance of official duties. Applicants must be willing to travel to coastal locations and to ODFW Headquarters in Salem; conference calls are used in many cases to reduce travel.
