Youth fishing event this weekend in Grants Pass

April 27, 2010

ROSEBURG, Ore. – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is hosting a free fishing event for kids on Saturday, May 1 at the Reinhart Volunteer Park Pond in Grant Pass.

The event runs from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and ODFW staff and volunteers will provide the fishing equipment and help for new anglers just getting started.

In addition, ODFW will stock 500 rainbow trout for the event, which is part of ODFW’s Youth Angling Enhancement Program.  Earlier this year, approximately 900 rainbow trout were stocked in Reinhart Volunteer Park Pond and many of these fish are still available for catching.

Anglers 13 years old and younger can fish for free. A juvenile license is required for anglers 14 to 17 years old and all fishing regulations apply.

Reinhart Volunteer Park is located in Grants Pass off Lincoln Road.
