Fish, Hunt, Explore: ODFW showcases outdoor education at the NW Sportsmen’s Show

February 3, 2010

Salem, Ore. — Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife staff invite anyone interested in learning how to get started fishing, hunting, crabbing or clamming to visit their booth at the Pacific Northwest Sportsmen’s Show. The new ODFW Outdoor education program will be featured and attendees can pick up a 2010 event calendar.

Upcoming education events include small game hunting clinics, youth angling events, pheasant hunts, Becoming an Outdoor Woman events and a family clamming event. Programs are free or offered at low cost and equipment is provided for use during the classes.

At the ODFW booth, show attendees will be able to buy 2010 fishing and hunting licenses and tags; use the new mandatory online hunter harvest reporting system; get a demonstration of the online Oregon Hunting Access Map; and talk to ODFW staff about all of their hunting, fishing and viewing interests.

“One of the great things about Oregon is that there is a hunting, fishing or shellfishing opportunity every season,” said Rick Hargrave ODFW Information and Education Division deputy director. “The ODFW Outdoor education program offers hands-on events that teach newcomers how to get started in these fun activities.”

For a copy of the 2010 ODFW Outdoors education calendar, visit the ODFW website.

To learn more, stop by the ODFW booth in Hall B. The show begins a five-day run Feb. 10 at the Portland Expo Center, 2060 North Marine Drive, Portland. For more information, visit the 35th Annual Pacific Northwest Sportsmen's Show website.
