Eugene resident appointed to ODFW Fish Restoration and Enhancement Program board

January 19, 2010

SALEM, Ore. — Robert Bumstead of Eugene has been appointed to a four-year term on ODFW’s Fish Restoration and Enhancement Board by the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission on Jan. 8 in Salem. He will represent the sport fishing community.

An assistant professor at Pacific University, Bumstead is an avid angler whose experience includes past conservation chair of the McKenzie Flyfishers, Waldo Lake Advisory Committee and McKenzie Watershed Council. He currently serves on Oregon Trout’s Salmon Watch Steering Committee.

Bumstead replaces Darlene Kline-Dolby, of Eugene, whose term expired at the end of 2009.

Created by the Oregon Legislature in 1989, the Fish Restoration and Enhancement Program is funded by a surcharge on sport and commercial fishing licenses and commercial poundage fees. The program’s seven-member citizen board reviews fish restoration and enhancement project proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission.

Other members of the R&E Board include sport fishing representatives Lonnie Johnson of Grants Pass and Jack Glass of Troutdale, seafood processing representative Dixie Boley of Gold Beach, gillnet fishing representative Gary Soderstrom of Clatskanie, troll fishing representative Terry Learned of Cloverdale, and Bill Lovelace of Baker City, who was appointed as public-at-large representative on Jan. 8.
