Fall chinook advisory committee meeting in Grants Pass

January 22, 2010

ROSEBURG, Ore. – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and the Rogue SMU Fall Chinook Conservation Plan advisory committee will meet Feb. 1 at the Marie Hill Conference Room, 510 NW 4th Street, Grants Pass. The meeting runs 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and the public has 10 minutes to comment at the end of the meeting.

The committee will continue work on desired status for fall chinook populations in the Rogue River Basin after reviewing ODFW’s initial preferences. The committee also will review and discuss a summary of the findings from a limiting factors analysis completed for fall chinook populations in the Rogue River Basin.

The conservation plan covers populations of native fall chinook salmon in Oregon streams between Euchre Creek and the California border and the Rogue River Basin. Guided by ODFW’s Native Fish Conservation Policy, the plan will identify desired and conservation status and describe management strategies to reach these goals.

The mission of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is to protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.
