The STEP Advisory Committee was established with STEP in 1981 to serve as an advisory committee to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and the Fish and Wildlife Commission. STAC duties outlined in statute include the review of ODFW policies concerning the implementation of STEP and to make recommendations to the Department and the Commission. STAC is comprised of thirteen members that represent established regions of the state. STAC members are appointed by the Governor and can serve a maximum of two four-year terms.

Oregonians that are involved with local fishing groups, have previous experience working with volunteers and/or in community service, and are able to travel at least four times per year are encouraged to apply for current and upcoming vacancies. Applications can be submitted at any time. If you are interested in STAC please contact the ODFW STEP Coordinator, at (503) 947-6232 for more information. Application materials and information on the application process can be found on the Governor’s Executive Appointments website.
STAC meets quarterly in various communities throughout the state to conduct STEP business and tour local STEP projects. The public is welcome to attend the meeting and may provide comment on particular issues.
