Commercial groundfish

Commercial groundfish in Oregon has many different target species and many different gear types. Species targeted include whiting, lingcod, sablefish, flatfish and rockfish. The range of gear types used include hook and line, longline, pots and trawl gear.

Non-Trawl rockfish conservation area fishery

Within the non-trawl RCA there are two non-bottom contact gear types approved for use.

The groundfish trawl fishery is primarily managed under federal regulations.

West Coast Groundfish Trawl Catch Share Program  NOAA's main web page for this fishery includes regulations, vessel account registration, and first receiver site licenses.

Oregon Nearshore Limits for Trawl Includes the table of the more restrictive state limits by permit type "LE groundfish trawl".

Rockfish conservation areas
