Commercial groundfish in Oregon has many different target species and many different gear types. Species targeted include whiting, lingcod, sablefish, flatfish and rockfish. The range of gear types used include hook and line, longline, pots and trawl gear.

The groundfish trawl fishery is primarily managed under federal regulations.
