Project Proponent: US Fish and Wildlife Service
Conservation Values Protected: This site hosts significant natural, aesthetic, scientific and educational values and supports a mix of oak woodland, prairie, and coniferous forest important in maintaining healthy and viable populations of native plants and wildlife. The property is located immediately adjacent to the Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge, one of few large publicly owned sites in the Willamette Valley managed primarily for biodiversity. The habitats found on this property help to support a viable population of Fender's blue butterfly, and the nectar species used by the both the adult and larval Fender's Blue butterfly, the host plant Kincaid's lupine, both listed under the federal Endangered Species Act. The native prairie, savanna and woodland habitats on the property provide suitable habitat for many migratory and resident bird species of concern and Oregon conservation strategy species such as the Acorn woodpecker and the White-breasted nuthatch.
