Project Proponent: The Nature Conservancy
Year Acquired: 2007
Conservation Values Protected: The southern portion of the Coburg Ridge, including this property, supports one of the largest and highest quality native upland prairie habitats in the Willamette valley which provides habitat for several imperiled plant and wildlife species. The purpose of this conservation easement is to ensure that the conservation values of this property, including the prairie, oak woodland, oak savanna, and conifer-dominated forest habitats, will be retained forever in conditions that represent and support the natural, healthy, and ecologically sustainable characteristics of those habitats. The conservation easement also provides that the conservation values will be maintained for the native animal and plant species that depend on the property for their existence, and it also the purpose of the easement to prevent any use of the property that will significantly impair or interfere with the conservation values, while allowing use of the property for grazing and some working farm attributes. Through protection of the conservation values, this easement provides habitat for Oregon conservation strategy including, but not limited to, Fender's blue butterfly (federally listed as an "endangered species") Kincaid's lupine (federally listed as a "threatened species"), acorn woodpecker, streaked horned lark, and white-breasted nuthatch.
