Conservation Values Protected: This property protects habitat for strategy species under the Oregon Conservation Strategy (ODFW 2016), including, but not limited to, Acorn woodpecker (Melanerpes formicivorus), Streaked-horned lark (Eremophila alpestris strigata), and White-breasted nuthatch (Sitta carolinensis).
Habitats including native conifer woodlands, upland prairie, oak savanna, oak woodlands, grasslands and wet prairies providing biological and physical components to support the fish and wildlife species. Seasonal stream habitat is also protected, with associated riparian vegetation dominated by a canopy of native hardwood trees species and native understory species, which provides shading for aquatic species, refuge for terrestrial species and large wood for the stream system.
Other important ecosystem and human attributes, including providing open space and scenic value within the “Red Hills of Dundee,” an area of intense growth for vineyard development and wine tourism in Oregon.
