- ODFW held two public meetings (Astoria and Newport ) to discuss proposed changes to the Pacific Halibut Catch Sharing Plan.
- In addition, ODFW held a public meeting to discuss a proposed change by the Port Orford community to initiate an incidental retention commercial fishery in the directed sablefish fishery for the Oregon area south of 45 ° N. latitude.

- ODFW submitted its report (above) to the Pacific Fishery Management Council at its September meeting.
- ODFW did not recommend any changes for 2007 nor did the Council adopt for further consideration any changes for Oregon.

- PFMC adopted final changes to the Catch Sharing Plan.
- No changes were made for Oregon.

January 2007 |
- The International Pacific Halibut Commission set harvest levels, or total allowable catch (TAC), of 1.34 million pounds for 2007.
- ODFW held a public meeting on Jan. 24 in Newport to hear comments regarding the number and dates of fixed open days during the spring (May through July) all-depth Pacific halibut season in the central coast subarea (Cape Falcon and Humbug Mountain) and back-up dates for the spring fishery (in the event quota remains after the fixed dates).
