Sport groundfish estimates - select species

  • 2018 quota used through Sept. 2 (preliminary) (pdf) (1 page)

  • Estimates by species or species group, 2018 through Sept. 2 (preliminary) and the two prior years, monthly and cumulative (pdf) (3 pages)

We calculate estimates by statistical month, so, for example, if July 1 is on a Sunday, then estimates from that day fall into the statistical month of June (not July) because the majority of days that week (Monday-Saturday, or June 25-30) fell into the calendar month of May.

Sport groundfish impacts are tracked by weight. One metric ton = 2,204.6 pounds.

When a sport groundfish quota is reached or is projected to be reached, inseason adjustments may be made to sport fishing regulations in order to slow or stop fishing-related impacts on that species or species group.
