Wild coho season on Alsea closes

October 22, 2012

NEWPORT, Ore. -- The wild coho salmon season on the Alsea River will close at the end of the day Tuesday, Oct. 23.  According to ODFW fish biologists the wild adult coho quota of 950 fish for the river has been met.

“The Alsea River wild coho fishery produced a lot of catch last week.  Big tides and rain events provided bank anglers with a lot of coho catching opportunity,” said Derek Wilson, ODFW fish biologist.

The river will remain open to adipose fin-clipped hatchery coho under permanent regulations and for chinook salmon under temporary regulations adopted earlier this year.
