SALEM, Ore. –ODFW is accepting applications for one Landowner Representative opening on the Access and Habitat (A and H) Board. The deadline to apply is Jan. 28, 2013.
People with an interest and experience in forestry, agriculture or ranching, and hunting and wildlife conservation are encouraged to apply. Visit the A and H webpage and download the A and H Board Membership Application or contact Program Coordinator Matt Keenan at (503) 947-6087 for more information.
The A and H Board is made up of seven citizen volunteers—three landowner representatives, three hunter representatives, and one public-at-large representative. The Board reviews and recommends wildlife habitat improvement and hunting access projects to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission.
Board members are appointed to four-year terms by the Commission. They meet four times each year in various communities throughout the state to review project funding applications, hear public testimony, act as liaisons between the program and the public, and attend to other program business.
The A and H Program is funded by a $4 surcharge on hunting licenses. Funds raised by the program are distributed through grants to individual and corporate landowners, conservation organizations, and others for wildlife habitat improvement and hunter access projects throughout the state. |
