August 29, 2014
SALEM, Ore.—The portion of the Phillip W. Schneider Wildlife Area accessible through Flat Creek Road has been reopened to the public.
From the Flat Creek Area (south of Hwy 26 about five miles west of Dayville), hunters and other visitors to Phillip W Schneider Wildlife area can access ODFW, BLM and USFS lands situated north and west of Aldrich Mountain.
All other portions of the wildlife area remain closed until further notice due to the South Fork Complex fire. This closure includes all state and BLM lands accessible from the Murderers Creek, Jackass Creek, Oliver and Deer Creek roads. These portions will be reopened as firefighting activities and safety conditions permit.
