LA GRANDE, Ore. — Lookingglass Creek, a tributary to the Grande Ronde River at Palmer Junction, will close to fishing for hatchery spring chinook beginning Wednesday, June 18. The last day of fishing will be Tuesday, June 17 when biologists expect the harvest quota will be reached.
“Anglers have enjoyed good fishing since the fishery opened on May 31,” said Tim Bailey, ODFW district fish biologist in La Grande. “Water conditions in Lookingglass Creek have been ideal and with good numbers of Chinook showing up, catch rates were very good. The only down-side to the season is that it went by quickly.”
