CLACKAMAS, Ore. — Based on an upgraded run forecast, adult hatchery Chinook salmon retention will reopen on the lower Columbia River this Friday and continue through the end of July, under rules adopted today by fishery managers from Oregon and Washington.
Fishery managers were able to reopen the fishery since the latest run size update of 74,100 adult summer Chinook provides for a larger allocation for this fishery
Effective Friday July 7 through Monday July 31, anglers will be allowed to retain up to two adult hatchery Chinook salmon from the Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to the fishing deadline at Bonneville Dam.
Retention of jack hatchery Chinook, hatchery steelhead, and sockeye remains open under previously adopted regulations, including the one hatchery steelhead daily bag limit. All other permanent regulations, including bag limits for jack Chinook, apply.
