SALEM, Ore.—Members of the Oregon and Washington Fish and Wildlife commissions' Joint-State Columbia River Salmon Fishery Policy Review Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 16 from 11 a.m.-noon to receive updates on this year's Columbia River steelhead run and management actions taken so far to ensure fall fisheries stay within ESA limits.
The meeting is open to the public but no public comment will be taken during the meeting. Members of the public can tune in to the meeting at https://us06web.zoom.us/j/83566148419. Participants can also call in to the meeting at 253-215-8782 or 888-475-4499, then enter the webinar ID: 835-6614-8419.
Commissioners are expected to further discuss the status of Columbia River steelhead, as well as actions taken to make sure that fisheries are managed within a framework that puts conservation first. This follows a meeting held in late August that also addressed steelhead status and conservation; a recording of that meeting can be viewed at https://www.tvw.org/watch/?eventID=2021081086.
Public comments can always be sent to odfw.commission@odfw.oregon.gov
Commissioners Wahl, Wolley and Zarnowitz are members of this joint state Columbia River policy subcommittee and will represent Oregon at the meeting.
The joint meetings are not decision-making meetings. The committee members will report back to their full Commissions, who will ultimately consider any changes to their respective policies.
