NEWPORT, Ore – Oregon's commercial market squid fishery advisory panel meets virtually with ODFW marine fisheries managers Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 2-4 p.m.
Net size limitations, closed area boundaries, light boats, and other issues identified by the panel will be discussed. The public is invited to observe the meeting and can access it through the agenda link.
ODFW convened the advisory panel in October to assist the agency by providing input on modifying market squid fishery regulations. Additional management measures are needed to minimize bycatch of Dungeness crab and other species, reduce interactions between squid nets and Dungeness crab pots, and ensure the squid population remains productive into the future.
The group of 10 panelists represent vessel operators and processors from along the West Coast. More information on the panel can be found here.
