PRINEVILLE, Ore. – As a reminder to the public, the Rager Travel Management Area (TMA) period of restriction for motorized vehicles was extended to Aug. 20 – Nov. 20 on the Ochoco National Forest in the Ochoco Wildlife Management Unit (WMU).
The Rager TMA was established 50 years ago, encompasses 352 square miles of National Forest with a goal to improve the quality of the hunting experience and reduce resource damage.
These dates will now include archery deer and elk and all legal weapon (ALW) pronghorn seasons in the Ochoco WMU (37). TMA dates were extended by the ODFW Commission in 2022 to provide greater security for big game species, increase their use of public lands, and reduce conflicts on neighboring private lands.
Note that the Forest Service roads open on the map have not changed, just the period of restriction.
