The Fish and Wildlife Commission has moved to hybrid meetings, meaning that you have the option to attend in-person or virtually. Open Recreational Hatchery Chinook Retention in the Snake River
Adopted 05/17/2022: effective 05/18/2022 through 07/31/2022.
This amended rule allows retention of hatchery spring Chinook in the Hells Canyon section of the Snake River from May 18 through July 31.

2.) 635-017-0090

Close Retention of Chinook in Green Peter Reservoir
Adopted 05/19/2022: effective 05/20/2022 through 08/15/2022.
This amended rule will close retention of Chinook in Green Peter Reservoir from May 20 through October 31 consistent with similar waterbodies in the Willamette Zone (Detroit and Foster reservoirs) where Chinook have been released above dams.

3.) 635-005-0387

Close Intertidal Commercial Cockle Fishery in Tillamook Bay
Adopted 05/20/2022: effective 05/21/2022 through 09/30/2022.
This amended rule closes the Tillamook Bay commercial intertidal cockle fishery on May 21 as the fishery is projected to reach the 80,000-pound quota.

Increase Harvest Methods for Smallmouth Bass in the Coquille River
Adopted 05/20/2022: effective 05/22/2022 through 06/30/2022.
This rule allows the use of bait, spears, and spear guns to harvest smallmouth bass in the Coquille River (mainstem), East Fork Coquille River, Middle Fork Coquille River, North Fork Coquille River, and South Fork Coquille River (mouth to USFS boundary near Powers) from May 22 through October 31.

5.) 635-023-0125

Extend Recreational Spring Chinook and Steelhead Retention Fisheries in the Columbia River
Adopted 05/20/2022: effective 05/24/2022 through 06/15/2022.
This amended rule extends the retention fisheries for hatchery Chinook and hatchery steelhead in the Columbia River from Tongue Point/Rocky Point upstream to Bonneville Dam starting May 24 and from Bonneville Dam upstream to the Oregon/Washington border starting May 26.

Adopt Non-Treaty Columbia River Commercial Mainstem Tangle Net Fishery
Adopted 05/20/2022: effective 05/23/2022 through 05/24/2022.
These rules authorize one commercial fishing period for salmon, sturgeon, and shad fishery in a section of the Columbia River downstream of Bonneville Dam on May 23 and modify allowable sales for fish harvested in the Select Areas during the mainstem commercial fishery.

This amended rule increases protections for wild summer steelhead in the Columbia River Basin by closing angling in the Deschutes River.

Umpqua River Thermal Refuge Closures
Adopted 05/31/2022: effective 06/01/2022 through 06/30/2022.
This amended rule will prohibit angling at the mouth of tributaries of the Mainstem Umpqua River from the Scottsburg Bridge upstream to the River Forks Park boat ramp.

Authorize White Sturgeon Retention in the Lower Columbia River
Adopted 06/03/2022: effective 06/08/2022 through 06/26/2022.
This amended rule allows recreational retention of white sturgeon in the mainstem Columbia River from the mouth at Buoy 10 upstream to Wauna Powerlines on June 8 and June 11.

Modify Recreational Spring Chinook and Steelhead Retention Fisheries in the Columbia River
Adopted 06/03/2022: effective 06/04/2022 through 06/15/2022.
This amended rule modifies the open area and daily bag limit associated with retention fisheries for hatchery Chinook and hatchery steelhead in the Columbia River from Tongue Point/Rocky Point upstream to the Oregon/Washington border starting June 4.

Set Treaty Commercial Spring and Summer Fisheries
Adopted 06/03/2022: effective 06/04/2022 through 07/31/2022.
These amended rules authorize the sales of fish caught in treaty fisheries.
• Platform hook and line fisheries are open in Zone 6 (above Bonneville Dam) from June 4 through July 31.
• Platform hook and line fisheries are open downstream from Bonneville Dam from June 16 through July 31.
• Yakama Nation Zone 6 (Wind River, Drano Lake, and Klickitat River) fisheries are open June 4 until further notice.
• Gillnet fisheries are open in Zone 6 (above Bonneville Dam) during periods from June 16 through July 1.

This amended rule extends the recreational fishery for Pacific halibut in the Columbia River all-depth area on Mondays from June 13 through June 20.

Oregon and Washington share the recreational harvest quota in the Columbia River Subarea between Leadbetter Point, Washington and Cape Falcon, Oregon.

Open Hatchery Chinook Fishing in Lookingglass Creek
Adopted 06/09/2022: effective 06/10/2022 through 06/24/2022.
This rule allows recreational harvest of hatchery Chinook in Lookingglass Creek from June 10
through June 24.

Open Hatchery Chinook Fishing in the Imnaha and Wallowa Rivers
Adopted 06/13/2022: effective 06/25/2022 through 07/24/2022.
This rule allows recreational harvest of hatchery Chinook in the Imnaha River from June 25 through July 10 and in the Wallowa River from June 25 through July 24.

Set Recreational Summer Salmon and Steelhead Retention Fisheries in the Columbia River
Adopted 06/14/2022: effective 06/16/2022 through 07/31/2022.

This amended rule sets the Columbia River recreational salmon and steelhead fisheries from June 16 through July 31.
