Retention Period Extension for Treaty Subsistence Fishing in the Fifteenmile Creek Sanctuary
Adopted 4/27/2023: effective 4/29/2023 through 10/17/2023.
Under permanent rule, the annual closure date for treaty tribal subsistence fishing around the mouth of Fifteenmile Creek extends from November 16 through June 15. This amended rule allows subsistence fishing in this area to resume on April 29, 2023, to allow access to spring Chinook salmon.

Modify Closure Dates in Willamina Creek 200 feet below the Lower Falls
Adopted 5/15/2023: effective 5/21/2023 through 8/15/2023.
This amended rule allows angling to resume in Willamina Creek approximately 200 feet below the lower falls on May 22.

Allow Waivers to Retrieve Excess Derelict Crab Gear
Adopted 5/16/2023: effective 5/16/2023 through 8/14/2023.
This amended rule will allow state contracted vessels to recover more derelict gear under a waiver issued by ODFW than the amount otherwise allowed by rule.

This amended rule adopts additional angling and retention opportunity for the mainstem Columbia River recreational salmon fishery.

This amended rule adopts additional angling and retention opportunity for the mainstem Columbia River recreational salmon fishery downstream of Bonneville Dam.

Umpqua River Thermal Refuge Closures and Increase Harvest Methods for Bass in the Coquille River
Adopted 5/30/2023: effective 6/1/2023 through 6/30/2023.
This amended rule will prohibit angling at the mouth of tributaries of the Mainstem Umpqua River from the Scottsburg Bridge upstream to the River Forks Park Boat Ramp. This rule will also allow the use of bait, spears, and spear guns to harvest smallmouth bass in the Coquille River (mainstem), East Fork Coquille River, Middle Fork Coquille River, North Fork Coquille River, and South Fork Coquille River (mouth to USFS boundary near Powers) from June 1 through October 31.

Open Hatchery Chinook Fishing in Lookingglass Creek
Adopted 5/31/2023: effective 6/3/2023 through 6/26/2023.
This rule allows recreational harvest of hatchery Chinook in Lookingglass Creek from June 3 through June 11.

Modify Youngs Bay Select Area Commercial Fishery
Adopted 5/31/2023: effective 6/1/2023 through 7/31/2023.
This rule modifies the 2023 spring Youngs Bay Select Area commercial fishery by reducing the open hours in the current week and restricting the open area in the period scheduled for next week.

Close Recreational Spring Salmon/Steelhead Season Fishery in the Columbia River Downstream of Bonneville Dam
Adopted 5/31/2023: effective 6/1/2023 through 9/27/2023.
This amended rule closes the mainstem Columbia River salmon/steelhead recreational fishery downstream of Bonneville Dam.

Increase Recreational Halibut Days and Bag Limit in Central Coast and Southern Oregon Subareas
Adopted 6/2/2023: effective 6/12/2023 through 10/31/2023.
This amended rule will provide recreational anglers additional opportunity to harvest Pacific halibut by adding June 13 and June 20 to the Columbia River Subarea season and increasing the bag limit to two halibut in the Central Coast and Southern Oregon Subareas.

Set Recreational Salmonid Fisheries and Thermal Angling Sanctuaries in the Columbia River During Summer Season
Adopted 6/8/2023: effective 6/16/2023 through 7/31/2023.
This amended rule sets the Columbia River recreational salmon and steelhead fisheries from June 16 through July 31 (summer season).
This rule also closes angling in portions of the mainstem Columbia River adjacent to the mouths of Eagle Creek and the Deschutes River, and that portion of Herman creek and lagoon within the Columbia River Zone beginning July 15.

Authorize Commercial Sales for Treaty Indian Summer Fisheries
Adopted 6/12/2023: effective 6/16/2023 through 7/31/2023.
These amended rules authorize the sales of fish caught in treaty fisheries.
• Platform hook and line fisheries are open in Zone 6 (between Bonneville and McNary dams) from June 16 through July 31.
• Platform hook and line fisheries are open downstream from Bonneville Dam from June 16 through July 31.
• Yakama Nation Zone 6 tributary (Wind River, Drano Lake, and Klickitat River) fisheries are open June 16 until further notice.
• Gillnet fisheries are open in Zone 6 (between Bonneville and McNary dams) during periods from June 19 through June 21 and June 26 through June 28.

Steelhead Protections in Lower John Day River Waters
Adopted 6/12/2023: effective 6/16/2023 through 6/26/2023.
This amended rule reduces the daily bag limit for hatchery steelhead in the lower John Day River from June 16 through August 31.

Steelhead Protections in Eagle Creek and Deschutes River Waters
Adopted 6/12/2023: effective 6/16/2023 through 10/11/2023.
This amended rule reduces the daily bag limit to one hatchery steelhead per day in the lower reaches of Eagle Creek and Deschutes River from June 16 through July 14 to align with regulations for the adjacent mainstem Columbia River mainstem enacted to provide additional protection for upriver steelhead. This rule also closes angling in the Thermal Angling Sanctuary portions of Eagle Creek and the Deschutes River beginning July 15.
