CLACKAMAS, Ore. – The annual September recreational fishing closure on Big Creek will be extended through the month of October, under temporary rules adopted today by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The closure applies to all species and is effective from the fishing deadline at Big Creek Hatchery downstream approximately three miles to the railroad trestle at the mouth, and includes angling from the trestle.
The angling closure was extended one additional month to give Big Creek Hatchery additional time to collect tule Chinook and coho salmon brood stock, both of which are tracking below the hatchery’s brood stock needs.
